Are you a Jefferson Parish resident with a new refrigerator, new flooring, new sheet rock, and fresh paint on your walls? If so, you probably have Aaron Broussard to thank for that. He's cost his constituents literally billions of dollars. It's probably not possible to count the number of people who spent the better part of a year in FEMA trailers and on anti-depressants thanks to Aaron Broussard's incompetence.

While it is true that Jefferson Parish is leading the nation in job growth, that is not because of anything Aaron Broussard has accomplished. If that were true, it would have been true before Katrina. It is because the Corps of Engineers has largely destroyed Orleans Parish and many people and businesses moved "next door" to Jefferson. Jefferson's recent financial success also has a lot to do with the fact that tens of thousands of Jefferson Parish households spent millions of dollars replacing their appliances, flooring, and repairing their homes because of Broussard's poor judgment. There are many reasons Jefferson Parish is in the shape it is today - the good and the bad - and none of them is a reason to re-elect Aaron Broussard.

  • Remember his hysteria on WWL: “I am announcing that Jefferson Parish has now seceded from the United States and is now the country of Jeffersonia. Now I know we will receive the aid a foreign country receives.”
  • Remember his hysteria and lies on Meet The Press. View the video here. Aaron Broussard asked, "Why did it happen?  Who needs to be fired?  And believe me, they need to be fired right away, because we still have weeks to go in this tragedy.  We have months to go.  We have years to go.  And whoever is at the top of this totem pole, that totem pole needs to be chain-sawed off and we've got to start with some new leadership." The citizens of Jefferson Parish agree with him on this point, at least. It's time for new leadership and Aaron Broussard must go.
  • Remember that he spent $38,000 of taxpayer money defending himself with ads in the Times-Picayune.
  • Remember that he commandeered Meadowcrest Hospital, pushing nearly 700 employees to the brink of layoffs.
  • Remember that his constituents have brought class-action lawsuits against both Broussard and the Parish because of his incompetence. The damage has already cost people millions, and these lawsuits will bring the tally up even higher as taxpayers will have to pay for any damages paid to the people Broussard injured, plus the legal cost of defending the Parish.
  • Remember that he gave his friend Gary Froeba $15,000 of your tax dollars for ONE MONTH of work to "maintain order and comfort" at Meadowcrest hospital. This was part of $38 million dollars worth of contracts handed out with little or no supervision in Katrina's aftermath. Evidently he really was the Dictator of Jeffersonia.

It's time for Aaron Broussard to see if he can make it in the "real world" - that is, the world outside of politics.

Thanks, Aaron!
